Dec 15, 2016 Skyrim Redone Weapon Damage - posted in General Skyrim Discussion: Greetings everyone, currently Im running Skyrim Redone with a lot of other mods and have been enjoying my playthrough for about 50 or so hours without a slightest hitch. The weapon that you wield into a fight has the biggest impact on your Spell and Weapon Damage values. You’ll notice that all weapons of all types give a damage stat on them – this is both Spell and Weapon Damage and when you equip that weapon your character sheet will reflect this.

Does my weapon damage even matter for my spell damage? let's say I'm using the spell Freezing Pulse...How do I get the damage of that to increase other than to level up the skill gem or use support gems. Is the only way to increase the damage by putting points into 'increased spell damage' in the passive tree and finding that stat on items? It doesn't even seem like the weapon damage on the weapons I find does anything for my spell damage. Also I see there is a stat in the passive tree called 'increased cold damage'...Does that increase the damage of a spell that does cold damage? Or does it only increase the cold damage you may cause from using normal physical attacks. I'm just a bit confused on how I get my damage up. My friends are playing melee classes and are doing so much more damage than me because their damage increases with the physical damage you get from weapon damage...How do I get MY damage up? | Posted by Graybes on Jan 28, 2013, 4:07:50 AM |
' Spells are skills that gain levels, just like you do. So, a spell gem equipped will naturally get more powerful over time. Also, you can get gear and passive skill nodes that will increase your spell and elemental damage. | Posted by on Jan 28, 2013, 4:09:50 AM |
the weapopn damage on your wand or whatever has no effect on spell damage. Its for physical attacks with that weapon only. If you want to increase your spell damage like freezing pulse, then you need to find items with +% spell damage, or invest in passives that give +% spell damage. Passives that give a bonus to cold damage would affect any spell or attack that delivered cold damage. Also remember that you can boost certain spells like freezing pulse with +% projectile passives also, since freezing pulse is a projectile also. | Posted by Nekrogoblin77 on Jan 28, 2013, 4:12:22 AM |
So what you are saying is the damage on the weapons I use doesn't even matter for my spell damage? Now lets focus on a spell like Freezing Pulse which the gem says its a 'Cold, Projectile, Spell' There are passives in the passive skill tree that say 'increased cold damage' and 'increased projectile damage'...Will these passives increase the damage of Freezing Pulse? | Posted by Graybes on Jan 28, 2013, 4:13:45 AM |
Ah looks like my questions were answered by the second poster as I was typing them. Thank you so much for the helpful info! Also I'm assuming 'increased elemental damage' would help too! Last edited by Graybes on Jan 28, 2013, 4:15:23 AM | Posted by Graybes on Jan 28, 2013, 4:14:31 AM |
Well, you could either: - Get a wand with spell damage (I owned one with + 48% spell damage, too bad I sold it) - Get spirit shields, not only do they provide ES some of them (if lucky) provide a decent amount of spell damage) - Upgrade your skill gems - Grab elemental nodes, nodes that is similar to your skill gem. | Posted by on Jan 28, 2013, 4:20:03 AM |
' Yes. Increased elemental damage, increased spell damage, increased cold damage all add together to boost your cold spells. Apart from certain uniques (generally designed for niche builds), the best weapons to use for spellcasters are wands, sceptres and daggers. They all have an innate bonus of some kind that will affect your spells (or at least most spells), and they are likely to roll useful mods on top of that. | Posted by Incompetent on Jan 28, 2013, 4:23:28 AM |
Increased Elemental stats usually are labelled for specific purposes. So if a node says increased cold damage, it'll increase ALL cold damage unless it says so. Such as Increased cold damage with weapons. Or increased cold damage with spells. Etc. 'Minions of your minions are your minion's minions, not your minions.' - Mark | Posted by on Jan 28, 2013, 4:23:58 AM |
I really appreciate all the help. Might have to rethink what class I play after I search for where all the cold damage passives are | Posted by Graybes on Jan 28, 2013, 4:25:35 AM |
So, does my freezing pulse damage increase if i pump a node that says 'increased cold/elemental damage with weapons' ? from what i read, it only adds to the damage that's on the weapon and not freezing pulse or spells. | Posted by katsukurry on Nov 15, 2013, 5:15:21 PM |

Weapon Qualities
Here is the format for weapon entries (given as column headings on Table: Weapons, below).
Cost
This value is the weapon’s cost in gold pieces (gp) or silver pieces (sp). The cost includes miscellaneous gear that goes with the weapon.
This cost is the same for a Small or Medium version of the weapon. A Large version costs twice the listed price.
Damage
The Damage columns give the damage dealt by the weapon on a successful hit. The column labeled “Dmg (S)” is for Small weapons. The column labeled “Dmg (M)” is for Medium weapons. If two damage ranges are given then the weapon is a double weapon. Use the second damage figure given for the double weapon’s extra attack. Table: Weapon Damage by Size gives weapon damage values for weapons of those sizes.

Critical
The entry in this column notes how the weapon is used with the rules for critical hits. When your character scores a critical hit, roll the damage two, three, or four times, as indicated by its critical multiplier (using all applicable modifiers on each roll), and add all the results together.
Exception: Extra damage over and above a weapon’s normal damage is not multiplied when you score a critical hit.
×2
The weapon deals double damage on a critical hit.
×3
The weapon deals triple damage on a critical hit.
×3/×4
One head of this double weapon deals triple damage on a critical hit. The other head deals quadruple damage on a critical hit.
×4
The weapon deals quadruple damage on a critical hit.
19–20/×2
The weapon scores a threat on a natural roll of 19 or 20 (instead of just 20) and deals double damage on a critical hit. (The weapon has a threat range of 19–20.)
18–20/×2
The weapon scores a threat on a natural roll of 18, 19, or 20 (instead of just 20) and deals double damage on a critical hit. (The weapon has a threat range of 18–20.)
Range Increment
Any attack at less than this distance is not penalized for range. However, each full range increment imposes a cumulative –2 penalty on the attack roll. A thrown weapon has a maximum range of five range increments. A projectile weapon can shoot out to ten range increments.
Weight

This column gives the weight of a Medium version of the weapon. Halve this number for Small weapons and double it for Large weapons.
Type
Weapons are classified according to the type of damage they deal: bludgeoning, piercing, or slashing. Some monsters may be resistant or immune to attacks from certain types of weapons.
Eso Does Weapon Dmg Increase The Dots Dmg 1
Some weapons deal damage of multiple types. If a weapon is of two types, the damage it deals is not half one type and half another; all of it is both types. Therefore, a creature would have to be immune to both types of damage to ignore any of the damage from such a weapon.
In other cases, a weapon can deal either of two types of damage. In a situation when the damage type is significant, the wielder can choose which type of damage to deal with such a weapon.
Special
Some weapons have special features. See the weapon descriptions for details.
