Dell Xps 13 High Sierra Installer Dmg

Anyone not happy with the latest MacBook Pro options might be interested in a Hackintosh project posted to Github for the Dell XPS 13. Dell describes the machine, which offers Thunderbolt 3/USB-C ports, as ‘the smallest 13-inch laptop on the planet.’

The virtually borderless InfinityEdge display maximizes screen space by squeezing a 13-inch display in an 11-inch frame. With a bezel only 5.2 mm thin, starting at only 2.7 pounds and measuring a super slim 9-15 mm, the XPS 13 is exceptionally thin and light.

Nov 04, 2019  This repository contains a sample configuration to run macOS (Currently Mojave 10.14.6) on a Dell XPS 9360 Booting is supported using either Clover EFI or OpenCore. This repository has been tested against Dell XP 9360 bios version 2.8.1 with Thunderbolt.

While the base configuration includes a 1080p display with an Intel Core i3, it can be configured up to a Core i7 with 3200×1800 display. The display quality, however, falls a long way short of the 2016 MacBook Pro, at just 72% of sRGB.

The Github project says that it aims to provide a ‘relatively complete functional macOS for XPS13 9350.’ At present, it has a bug that causes external devices to disappear when cold-booted into macOS.

The notes are rather sparse, with commenters noting that it fails to specify which versions of macOS it supports, and is also silent on whether it supports iMessage and Facetime – two apps that won’t run on many Hackintosh setups.

We ran our own how-to guide last year on building a sub-$1000 desktop Hackintosh that met the hardware requirements for Oculus Rift.

Updated OS X Sierra Bootloader for Dell XPS 13

This repo contains everything you need for a working bootloader to boot OS X Sierra (tested with 10.12.1) on your XPS 13 9350 !

Setting up the installer

First you need a working OS X machine with any OS X version (or a virtual machine). Download OS X Sierra in the App Store as well as Unibeast and Multibeast from https://www.tonymacx86.com/resources/categories/tonymacx86-downloads.3/

When download is finished install the OS X installer to a USB key by running Unibeast. Copy Multibeast app to the the root of your USB key.

Updating CLOVER

You will need to mount the EFI partition of your usb key to modify bootloader.

To do so :Find your usb key disk number with :diskutil list

Mount partition with :

mkdir /Volumes/EFI

mount -t msdos /dev/diskXs1 /Volumes/EFI X being the disk number found before

Replace CLOVER (/Volumes/EFI/EFI/CLOVER) folder in the EFI partition of your key by the one in this repo.

Windows

Booting the installer

To boot the installer we will need to configure the BIOS. Press F2 at boot and change these settings in the BIOS (make sure you use BIOS version 1.4.4, if not use windows to update it):

  • Disable Secure Boot
  • Disable VT for Direct I/O
  • Set SATA Operation to AHCI

Add UEFI option in the BIOS to boot from the key using UEFI.

Just follow the steps and enjoy !Always remember to back up your important data !Don't forget to run Multibeast at the end to install Clover to your startup disk, and copy the repo's CLOVER folder to your startup disk EFI partition.

Getting drivers installed

I would recommend using KextUtility to install drivers to your new system. You can do it using the command line, but let's jsut be lazy. You can find KextUtility here : http://cvad-mac.narod.ru/index/0-4Use the soft to install driver in the Kexts folder :

  • ACPIBatteryManager.kext : makes the battery part work (checking the percent capacity of the battery in the menu bar, ...)
  • VoodooPS2Controller.kext : driver for the integrated keyboard and touchpad (no multi touch yet but scrolling and still a bit slow, but working on it ! )

What does/does not work ?
