User summary: AQ 3.5 provides the mechanical information necessary to use the Al-Qadim setting with D&D 3.5. The guide consists of eight chapters dealing with various aspects of character creation and other mechanical information unique to the setting. It is distributed as a set of individual files, one per topic: Races, 9 pp. Core Classes, 21 pp. Prestige Classes, 13 pp. Background Feats, 6. We are playing in Al-Qadim, and my players want to start a trading company. They want trading and profit to be the driving force of this campaign. They already some camels and horses, a large boat, a warehouse in Huzuz to store their goods, and all paperwork and permits they should need.

Dec 31, 2018  The core al-Qadim products along with City of Delights mention the more common monstrous races, so I figured to write up some entries on other monsters (namely humanoids and giants) in the major 5th Edition books.

Fair use rationale for Image:Al-qadim logo.gif[edit]

So some anal-retentive wikipedo decided to challenge the notability of Al-Qadim, probably because they've never heard of it.

Every Dungeons & Dragons campaign setting has its own wikipedia article, and yet this is the only one whose notability is being attacked. Even long out of print and comparatively unpopular settings such as Mystara and Spelljammer are being allowed to exist. Al-Qadim, like Kara-Tur/Oriental Adventures was a reasonably popular sub-setting within the Forgotten Realms world. Each D&D campaign world is a rich and detailed concept with at least a dozen published books and modules documenting it. Most have novels based on them, and all have been well documented in numerous role playing magazines.

In conclusion, it's painfully obvious that whoever flagged this article did so out of pettiness and unwarranted sense of self-importance. Again, campaign settings less popular than Al-Qadim have articles. This is not some fanzine or obscure supplement, this is a popular product line within the Dungeons & Dragons franchise. Its notability is self-evident, though fifteen seconds on google could easily confirm it. I'm removing the notability tag and if you want to add it back, you need to have the balls to fucking debate me on it. No hiding behind misinterpreted WP: shit. However I suggest you quit while you're ahead and avoid making any more of a fool of yourself. Good day. Wormwoodpoppies (talk) 17:21, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

Al-Qadim at Forgotten Realms Wiki[edit]

The following discussion took place about including the link to Forgotten Realms Wiki:Hello there!
On the Al-Qadim page you removed the link to Forgotten Realms Wiki.
You are of course right that the Al-Qadim article there has no additional information compared to the one here. However Forgotten Realms Wiki wants to cover Al-Qadim related subjects that are not deemed noteworthy at Wikipedia, too. There may not yet be to many such articles, but in my opinion too much to be dismissed. I can think of articles on e.g. all Zakharan deities and all Al-Qadim sourcebooks. Do you think that is enough to keep the link (and perhaps get interested editors to get involved there, too)? Daranios (talk) 16:49, 22 January 2009 (UTC)

I don't have much of a preference either way; I just thought it was better to include a link to the local page (which didn't seem to have a link until then). Wikipedia:External links discourages overuse of external links which commonly happens with Wikia sites, so I tend to remove certain ones in passing if the local page for that specific topic has more content. In this case, however, it looks like there's some good content there that Wikipedia doesn't have. GarrettTalk 19:23, 25 January 2009 (UTC)

Meaning[edit]

It may be appropriate to mention that al-qadim in Arabic means old or ancient. In religious texts it acquires also other meanings. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.17.50.44 (talk) 10:26, 30 March 2010 (UTC)
